Chabary ( Russian Хабары́ ) is a village (selo) in the Altai region ( Russia ) with 5552 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 280 km as the crow flies west of the regional administration center Barnaul in the northern part of the Kulunda steppe on the Burla .

Chabary is the administrative center of the Rajons Chabarski and seat and only town in the rural community selsowet Chabarski .

history

The village was founded in 1743 by nomadic Kazakhs ; hence his name is of Turkish origin. Since 1924 Chabary has been the center of a Rajon.

Chabary is located on the road coming from the south-west from Slavgorod via the Deutsche Nationalrajon with its administrative seat Halbstadt , which leads further north to the Novosibirsk Oblast, 10 km away , and there after about 50 km in Krasnosjorskoje reaches the regional road R382 Ordynskoje  - Karassuk . From Chabary in a north-easterly direction, the village of Korotojak is reached after about 17 km with the immediately adjacent train station and station settlement Chabary . The station is located at kilometer 484 on the railway line Omsk  - Karassuk - Srednesibirskaja (north of Barnaul), the "Central Siberian Mainline", which was built in the early 1960s to relieve the Trans-Siberian Railway .
