Church in Sarinsk

The place was created in 1952 as Sarinskaya around the railway station of the same name when the Barnaul - Novokuznetsk line was opened. In 1958 the status of urban-type settlement was given. Between 1972 and 1985 a large coking plant was built southeast of the town , which started production in 1981. With the work, the city's population grew, so that in 1979 the settlement was united with the village of Sorokino , which had existed since 1748 , about 6 km to the north-west, and received city rights under its current name.
