Talmenka ( Russian Тальменка ) is an urban-type settlement with 18,814 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010) in the Altai region in southern Western Siberia ( Russia ). Talmenka is the administrative center of the raion of the same name .
The place is on the Chumysh River (tributary of the Ob ) and on the Barnaul - Novosibirsk railway line ( Ust-Talmenskaya station , 84 km north of Barnaul).
Talmenka was founded in 1721 and was initially called Talmenskoje ( Тальменское ). In 1936 the place received the status of an urban-type settlement .
The most important event of the year is the Spring Festival on the main square in the center of the village.
