The place is good 160 km in a straight line east of the regional administration center Barnaul on the western edge of the Salairrückens predominantly on the right bank of whether -Nebenflusses Chumysh River .

Jelzowka is the administrative center of the Rajons Jelzowski and seat and only town in the rural community Jelzowski selsowet .
