Economy and Infrastructure
The main economic factor is the function of the place as one of the most important balneological and climatic health resorts in Siberia. Based on the weakly mineralized, radon-containing healing waters pumped from a depth of 200 to 500 meters with temperatures of 27 ° C to 42 ° C, 19 sanatoriums with a total of 5,000 beds function. Another healing factor is the relatively mild and sunny climate for Siberia.
Efforts are being made to establish the place as a ski center with its safe snow depths of over one meter and normal winter temperatures between −10 ° C and −25 ° C.
There are bus connections to Belokuricha, including from Barnaul and via the regional road R368 from Biysk, about 60 kilometers away, where the nearest train station is also located.
