Krasnogorskoje ( Russian Красного́рское ) is a village (selo) in the Altai region ( Russia ) with 5993 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is about 200 km as the crow flies southeast of the regional administrative center of Barnaul and 70 km east- south -east of Biysk in the northern foothills of the Altai , which has the character of a low mountain range there and reaches heights of about 700  m east of the place . It is located at the confluence of the Barda with the Tschapscha, which in turn flows 8 km south into the right Katun tributary of the Ischa .

Krasnogorskoje is the administrative center of the Rajons Krasnogorski and seat of the rural community Krasnogorski selsowet, which includes next to the village Krasnogorskoje nor the villages Kaltasch and Verkh-kasha and settlements Irtyschkino, Iwanowka, Jegona, Karagaika, Tschapscha and Uschlep.

history

The village was founded in 1811 and was initially called after the river Barda, later Staraja Barda ("Old Barda"). In 1924 it became the center of the Starobardinski rajon. In 1960 the village and Rajon were renamed Krasnogorskoje and Krasnogorski (from Russian krasny for red and gory for mountains ).

There is a road connection to the M52 Tschuiski trakt trunk road about 25 km west of the right (eastern) bank of the Katun , which connects Novosibirsk past Barnaul, via Biysk and past the capital of the Altai Republic, Gorno-Altaisk, to the Mongolian border at Tashanta . A local road leads from Krasnogorskoye further north, which opens up the part of the Rajon on the left of the Bija .
