Ryan Christie (born February 22, 1995 in Inverness ) is a Scottish football player who is under contract with Celtic Glasgow .

Career

Ryan Christie was born in Inverness in February 1995 to former professional soccer player Charlie Christie . During this time his father played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle . After his father retired in 2004, the family moved to Fraserburgh . Ryan Christie began his career in 2006 in the youth team of FC Fraserburgh, for whom he played until the end of 2011. In January 2012 he signed a contract with Inverness Caledonian Thistle. For the Caley Jags , Christie made his debut in the first team in the 2013-14 season . He came on for Marley Watkins on his debut against Celtic Glasgow . In the same season he reached the final in the Scottish League Cup with the team, which was lost on penalties against FC Aberdeen , Christie was substituted on in the 100th minute of extra time. In his first professional season he played in 15 league games and scored three goals. The following season he won the Scottish Cup with Inverness for the first time in club history . Christie was substituted in the 72nd minute against the eventual winning goal scorer James Vincent . At the end of the 2014/15 season , Christie was also voted SFWA Young Player of the Year . In September 2015, the 20-year-old talent moved to Celtic Glasgow for a fee of £ 500,000 and signed a four-year deal. Just one day after his signature in Glasgow, he was awarded to Inverness until the end of the 2015/16 season . In December 2015, Celtic FC announced that they would end their loan in January so that Christie would play for this club in the second half of the season. He made his debut for Celtic on the 23rd match day against FC St. Johnstone when he was substituted on for Stuart Armstrong in the second half . In January 2017 Christie was loaned out to Aberdeen FC. The loan was extended to the 2017/18 season.

National team

Ryan Christie made his Scottish U-21 debut against Luxembourg in September 2014 . Another deployment against Switzerland followed in the same year . In his fourth appearance for the U-21 juniors, Christie scored his first goal in the shirt of Scotland in a 2-1 win over Northern Ireland . In 2017 Christie made his senior team debut against the Netherlands . In his tenth appearance, he scored his first goal in November 2019 when he scored against Cyprus .
