Origin and meaning

Seán is the Irish form of Johannes (English form John ).

The name comes from the time of the Norman Anglo-conquest of Ireland-down French name Jean , Old French Jehan (via Latin Johannes , ancient Greek Ἰωάννης (JOHN) from the Hebrew יוֹחָנָן (Johanan), meaning these names root "God is gracious").
