Sergio Luis Henao Montoya (born December 10, 1987 in Rionegro ) is a Colombian racing cyclist .
Athletic career
At the beginning of his career, Henao drove for Colombian UCI Continental teams . He won the overall ratings of the Clásico Ciclístico Banfoandes 2007, the Grand Prix du Portugal and the Cinturón a Mallorca 2009 and the Vuelta a Colombia 2010.
In 2012 he moved to Team Sky ProCycling , where his cousin Sebastián Henao has also had a contract since the 2014 season . In his first Grand Tour participation , the Giro d'Italia 2012 , he was ninth overall. In 2013, he won the third stage of the Tour of the Basque Country and thus his first race in the UCI WorldTour .
In March 2014, Henao was temporarily taken out of further race planning by his team because an internal test had shown abnormal values. Another suspension took place in April 2016 after the UCI examined the initiation of doping investigations based on the results of the biological passport . The team's suspension was lifted after the UCI declared in May 2016 that it had no basis for further investigation.
At the subsequent 2016 Olympic Games , he was in the lead with Vincenzo Nibali and Rafał Majka a few kilometers from the finish line , but fell together with Nibali on the last descent and broke his pelvis.
