Simon Makienok Christoffersen (born November 21, 1990 in Næstved ) is a Danish football player . The striker is under contract with FC St. Pauli in Germany and is a Danish national player.
Career
Danish club career
Makienok left his hometown club Næstved BK as a B-youth and moved to Herfølge BK , where he played his first professional games in the Danish second division in 2009 . In the further course of the season he came to three more missions before the team could celebrate promotion to the super league as champions at the end of the season . After the season, the club merged with another club to form HB Køge . The team then rose again from the first division. Makienok celebrated his first goal on November 21, 2009. However, he missed much of the season due to an injury.
In the 2010/11 season Makienok made his breakthrough as a regular player and top performer. In 28 games in which he was always in the starting line-up, he scored 16 goals. He also managed a three-pack on matchday 14. At the end of the season, the team rose to second in the first division. There, too, he was able to draw attention to himself regularly with good performances, while the team experienced a disappointing first half of the season in which they only won one game.
The attacker then changed clubs during the winter break and signed a contract with league rivals Brøndby IF at the end of January 2012, which was valid until summer 2016 . On March 4 of the same year Makienok made his debut for Brøndby in a league game before scoring his first goal two weeks later. In total, he was used fourteen times in his first half series and scored five goals. He was also a regular in the following season. With 15 goals in 30 games, he achieved his best record to date in the Danish first division. There were also four double packs. In 2013/14 he was able to maintain his goal quota and scored twelve times in 24 games. By reaching fourth place in the table, the club was able to participate in the qualification for the Europa League , but failed at Club Bruges .
Italy, England and the Netherlands
Shortly before the end of the summer transfer period, Makienok moved to the Italian first division club US Palermo in August 2014 , with whom he agreed on a four-year contract. According to the club, the transfer fee was 17 million kroner (about 2.3 million euros). On September 15, 2014, the Serie A striker made his competitive debut for Palermo.
In terms of sport, however, his time in Italy was disappointing. Makienok came in the 2014/15 season in Palermo just four appearances and was already after one year to the English second division club Charlton Athletic awarded, the institution responsible for the duration of a season. The Dane played 37 competitive games for the club, in which he contributed five goals and three assists. At the end of the season he rose with Charlton in the third-tier League One . This was followed by a loan to former league rivals Preston North End , with which Makienok could keep the class.
After his engagement in England ended, Palermo sold the attacker to the Dutch first division club FC Utrecht . After two games over 90 minutes in qualifying for the Europa League , Makienok tore a ligament in his knee and was out for the remainder of the 2017/18 season . After his return, he came on three short missions in the Eredivisie in the late summer of 2018, but fell again due to his previous injury and had to undergo an operation. On the 12th matchday of the 2019/20 season , the Dane was able to play in Utrecht again and reach the quarter-finals in the cup .
Germany
At the end of January 2020, he moved to Germany to join the second division team Dynamo Dresden , which provided him with a contract until the end of the season. There he met his ex-colleague from the Danish U21 , Brian Hamalainen .
After the relegation of the Saxons , Simon Makienok moved to FC St. Pauli on a free transfer and signed a contract with a term of 2 years.
National team
Makienok has been playing for Danish selection teams since he was young. In 2009 he was used eight times for the U19 national team and scored one goal. He came to another three missions for the U20. In 2011 Makienok was part of the U21 squad at the European Championships , for which he appeared thirteen times from 2009 to 2012 and scored two goals.
On March 22, 2013 he made his debut for the Danish national team in a World Cup qualifier against the Czech Republic in Prague . In 2013, the striker made five appearances in qualifying matches, in which the team missed the finals.
Style of play
Makienok is a classic center forward who has a good physique and, thanks to his body height of a good two meters, is extremely strong at the top. He is dangerous on goals and technically very strong despite his stature.
