Sosnowoje ( Russian Сосновое , German  Waldkrug, Stadtkreis Tilsit ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Slawsk in slavsky district .

Geographical location

Sosnowoje is located directly on the city border with Sowetsk (Tilsit) on a side road that connects the Rajon capital Slavsk (Heinrichswalde) via Luschki (Dittballen , 1938 to 1946 scattered area) with Sowetsk. The small town has a very attractive landscape in the northeast of the Schilleningker Forest (now Russian: Les Tilschenski). The Kaliningrad – Sowetsk (Koenigsberg – Tilsit) railway runs right past the village. The nearest train station is 119 km (formerly Tilsit-Stadtheide), two kilometers away.

The former Waldkrug (also: Tilsit-Waldkrug ) in the urban district of Tilsit, formed in 1896, consisted of an inn with outbuildings that were popular with day trippers and was integrated into the urban area of ​​Tilsit as a living space.

As a result of the war, Waldkrug came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 and was given the Russian name "Sosnovoye" before 1975. From 2008 to 2015, Sosnovoye belonged to the urban municipality of Slavskoje gorodskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Slavsk.
