Poddubje ( Russian Поддубье , German  Jagsten , Lithuanian Jakštai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Slawsk in slavsky district .

Geographical location

Poddubje on the river Ossa is two kilometers east of Bolshakowo on a side road that connects Bolshakowo via Osjornoje (New Lappönen) with Nismennoje (Pleinlauken , 1938 to 1946 Rosenthal) . There is a rail link via Bolshakovo on the Kaliningrad – Sovetsk (Koenigsberg – Tilsit) line .

The former Jagsten called village was 1874 in the District (there the place no more) Oschweningken incorporated, which was renamed "District Breitenhof" in 1939 and until 1938 the county lowlands after, the county Elchniederung in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1910 Jagsten had 264 inhabitants.

In 1945 Jagsten came to the Soviet Union as a result of the war with northern East Prussia . The place was given the Russian name "Poddubje" in 1947 and was assigned to the Bolshakovsky selski Sowet in Bolshakovo Raion at the same time . Since 1963 Poddubye has belonged to Slavsk Raion . From 2008 to 2015 the place belonged to the rural municipality Bolshakowskoje selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Slavsk.

Before 1945 the population of Jagsten was mainly of Protestant denomination and parish in the parish of the Skaisgirren Church with its seat in Groß Skaisgirren (1938 to 1946: Kreuzingen, today in Russian: Bolshakowo). The parish was in the parish Niederung (Elchniederung) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union .
