Istok ( Russian Исток , German  Neu Weynothen , 1938 to 1945 Preußenhof , Lithuanian Vainotai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Slawsk in slavsky district .

Geographical location

Istok is located eight kilometers northeast of the district town of Slavsk (Heinrichswalde) on a side road that leads from Oktjabrskoje (Alt Weynothen , 1938 to 1946 Weinoten) to Leninskoje (Pokraken , 1938 to 1946 Weidenau (Ostpr.)) . The nearest train station is Shcheglowka ( (Great) Britain ) on the Kaliningrad – Sovetsk (Königsberg – Tilsit) railway line .

history

Before 1945, the small village previously known as Neu Weynothen consisted of several large and small farms.
