history
The small town called Skören at the time was incorporated into the newly established district of Karzewischken with the official seat in Groß Karzewischken (1938 to 1946: Sprosserweide, Russian: Schtschukino, no longer existent today). This belonged to the Niederung district (from 1939 "Elchniederung district") in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia until 1945 - even after it was renamed "Sprosserweide District" in 1939 .
As a result of the war, Skören came to the Soviet Union with northern East Prussia in 1945 . The place received the Russian name "Gorodkowo" in 1947 and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Jasnowski selski Sowet in Slavsk Raion . From 2008 to 2015 Gorodkowo belonged to the rural municipality Yasnowskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Slavsk.

Church building
There is nothing left of the church in Skören, built between 1932 and 1933. At most, the foundations can still be guessed at north of the overland road to the location of the no longer existing village of Baltruscheiten (1938 to 1946: Balten). It was an octagonal building with turrets and was made of wood. The church survived the Second World War unscathed, but was then used until 1978 for a different purpose as a warehouse for drying grain. In 1979 the church was torn down and a milking shed was built in its place.
Parish
A separate parish of Protestant denomination was founded in Skören in 1909, branching off from the parish of the Kaukehmen Church (1938 to 1946: Kuckerneese, Russian: Jasnoje). Our own pastors had already been deployed here beforehand. The parish of the church Skören with its seven towns and villages existed until 1945 and belonged to the parish Niederung (Elchniederung) within the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Flight and expulsion of the local population brought church life in Skören resp. Gorodkowo to a standstill after 1945. Today the place is in the catchment area of the newly formed Evangelical Lutheran parish in Slavsk (Heinrichswalde) within the provost of Kaliningrad (Königsberg) of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
