Jasnoje ( Russian Я́сное , German until 1938 Kaukehmen , 1938–1945 Kuckerneese , Lithuanian Kaukiemis ) is a settlement in Slavsk Rajon in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad and belongs to the municipal self-government unit of the Slavsk district .
history
Kaukehmen was a Prussian settlement on the edge of the Memel Delta . In the 14th century, the Teutonic Order built a permanent house here . The name is derived from "Caucasian-kaimai" (subterranean village) and refers to a pagan place of worship, because the invisible, helpful earth spirits were worshiped as servants of the fertility goddess Puskaite. At least since 1576 Kaukehmen was parish seat and obtained soon due to its location and importance as a trading center the status of a patch . The small Ordensburg was still used as a hunting lodge by Elector Friedrich Wilhelm in the 17th century , but soon fell into disrepair and was demolished except for modest remains of the foundations. In 1661 the place got a bigger church, which - albeit in a changed and dilapidated condition - has outlasted the times. Since 1818 Kaukehmen was the seat of the district administration in the Niederung district, but later lost it to the more centrally located Heinrichswalde . Since 1946 the place belongs to the Slavsk Raion.
District of Kaukehmen / Kuckerneese (1874–1945)
Between 1874 and 1945, Kaukehmen was the official seat and eponymous place of a newly established administrative district , which - from 1938 renamed "Amtsgebiet Kuckerneese" - until 1945 belonged to the Niederung district (from 1939 "Elchniederung district") in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . At the beginning there were seven, in the end only three congregations:

Jasnowski selski Sowet / okrug 1947–2008
The village soviet Jasnowski selki sovet (ru. Ясновский сельский Совет) was established in June 1947. In October 1950 the northwestern part of the village soviet was separated and the new village soviet Levobereschenski selski sovet was established there. The border between the two village soviets probably ran along the eastern part of the Alge river to around the place Ackelningken / Ackeln (ru. Rownoje), which can perhaps be assumed to belong to the Lewobereschenski selski Sowet. After the collapse of the Soviet Union , the administrative unit existed as the village district Jasnowski selki okrug (ru. Ясновский сельский округ). In 2008 the remaining places of the village district were taken over into the newly formed rural community Yasnovskoye selskoje posselenije.

Church building
The Protestant church in Kaukehmen, which was Protestant until 1945 , was built under the influence of Joachim Ludwig Schultheiß von Unfriedt in the years 1704 to 1708 as a massive hall . The tower was built from 1881 to 1884. There have been wooden churches here that can be traced back to the Reformation. After a fire, the church was consecrated again in 1906. The building survived the Second World War undamaged. After that, however, it was repurposed and used as a warehouse , and the church tower became a water tower. In 1992 it was handed over to the Russian Orthodox Church , but it was not used. Only the sacristy in the east is still usable, but all of the furnishings have been destroyed. Repair work has been carried out in the years since 2010.
Parish
Already in 1576 a Protestant parish with a large parish was founded in Kaukehmen . Even before the founding date, clergymen were in office here - due to the size of the congregation, two pastors were appointed until 1704 and again from 1874. Initially belonging to the Tilsit inspection (Russian: Sowetsk), the Kaukehmen church was then assigned to the Niederung (Elchneiderung) church district in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union until 1945 . Flight and expulsion of the local population as a result of war brought church life to a standstill. Today Jasnoe is in the catchment area of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Slavsk (Heinrichswalde) , which was newly established in the 1990s, within the Kaliningrad provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
