The STRATEC SE (formerly STRATEC Biomedical ) is a global company engaged in the development and production of integrated, fully automated analytical systems in the field of in vitro diagnostics operates. As with a classic OEM ( Original Equipment Manufacturer ) supplier, the systems are developed and manufactured almost exclusively in cooperation with customers. In addition to the systems themselves, the company develops both system software solutions and software for connecting the systems to the laboratory software ( middleware ) as well as intelligent consumables. STRATEC is also responsible for the development documentation, the testing and delivery of the systems as well as the delivery of spare parts and wear materials. STRATEC's customers include leading diagnostics groups such as Siemens , Bio-Rad and Hologic .
history
The company was founded in 1979 by Hermann Leistner in Birkenfeld. In 1998, STRATEC went public. From the initial public offering until 2011, Hermann Leistner was CEO of STRATEC AG. In 2005, the 100% subsidiary Robion AG was founded in Switzerland, which was later renamed STRATEC Biomedical Switzerland AG. Sanguin International, Ltd., Great Britain, was acquired in 2006 . It was renamed STRATEC Biomedical UK, Ltd. In 2009, Invitek Gesellschaft für Biotechnik & Biodesign mbH, Berlin, now STRATEC Molecular GmbH, was acquired, and in 2010 Ballista, Inc., USA, now STRATEC Biomedical USA, Inc. In November 2010, the company was included in the TecDax . In March 2016, the company announced the acquisition of the Hungarian company Diatron. The company has around 200 employees and is an OEM supplier of diagnostic analysis systems for human and veterinary diagnostics. Another acquisition was made in June 2016: Sony DADC Biosciences GmbH, based in Anif, now STRATEC Consumables GmbH. The company has around 120 employees and is an OEM manufacturer for smart consumables in life science and diagnostics.
In November 2018, the legal form was converted into a European stock corporation (Societas Europaea, SE) with the name STRATEC SE. STRATEC SE has been listed in the SDAX , a share index of Deutsche Börse, since May 2020 .
The company's systems are used in the technological fields of immunoassays , molecular diagnostics, immunohematology and hematology .
