Sky Lease Cargo , formerly Tradewinds Airlines , is a US-based charter - cargo airline based in Greensboro .
history
The company was founded in 1969 as Wrangler Aviation and started its business operations with a Lockheed Constellation . The name Tradewinds Airlines was adopted in 1991 and replaced by the current one around 2010. Like its former sister company Centurion Air Cargo , Sky Lease Cargo is under the control of Alfonso Conrado Rey , which until 2012 also included Cielos Airlines in Peru.
In November 2015, a Boeing 747, registered with Centurion but possibly operated by Sky Lease Cargo, was seized by a court in Brazil. Before this incident, in June 2015, the fleet consisted of nine aircraft, four jumbos and five MD-11s.

Incidents
On November 7, 2018, a Sky Lease Cargo Boeing 747-400F ( aircraft registration number N908AR ) rolled over the end of the 2,347-meter-long runway 14 by 210 meters when landing at Halifax Airport ( Nova Scotia ). The landing took place in light rain and a tailwind component of 8 knots. The four-man crew of the freighter was only slightly injured, but the machine was irreparably damaged.
