Constituency area

The constituency area, which was initially designated as constituency Sächsische Oberlausitz 1, was formed in 1994 from large parts of the earlier constituencies Löbau and Görlitz, Land II - Zittau II - Löbau III . Then there were the city of Löbau and the municipality of Kittlitz from the constituency of Bautzen II - Löbau II . The basis for the initial name was the founding of the Saxon Upper Lusatia District on August 1, 1994. However, there was opposition to this name, so that the eponymous district was renamed the Löbau-Zittau district on January 1, 1995 . The name of the constituency was not changed until the 2004 state election.
