Černovice ( German  Tschernowitz ) is a municipality in Ústecký kraj in the Czech Republic .

geography

Geographical location

Černovice is located two kilometers west of Chomutov on Podkrušnohorský přivaděč and belongs to the Okres Chomutov .

history

The foundation is dated to the first half of the 13th century. The oldest known names are Schirnowitz, later Czrnowitz, Czernowicz, Czrniewicz, Zcirnebitz, Tchirnowitz and from 1847 the toponym Černowice. The place was first mentioned in writing in 1281. At that time the place belonged to the German knights of Komotau . In 1488 the Veitmil ( Weitmühl ) family took over the property. It was followed by the Vitzthum dynasty , who incorporated the place into the Hagensdorf rule. After the battle of the White Mountain the property was confiscated and Jaroslav Borsita Graf von Martinitz was assigned . In 1791 Countess Marie Anna von Althann inherited Tschernowitz. This was followed by Karl Friedrich Otto Graf Wolkenstein-Trostburg , Franz Preidl Edler von Hassenbrunn and Emanuel Karsch in 1848 . Tschernowitz formed a municipality in the judicial district Komotau or Komotau district from the middle of the 19th century .

The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture, there were also some weavers, stonemasons and other crafts. The stones extracted in the quarry were mainly used for buildings in Komotau, but were also used for the construction of churches in Brüx . In the second half of the 19th century, the first coal mines were opened, a fireclay factory was put into operation and the place was connected to the railroad. Brickworks were added at the beginning of the 20th century, but they were shut down again during the economic crisis. The Second World War passed almost without a trace, after the war most of the German population was expelled . Due to the coal mining, part of the place was demolished in the early 1960s.
