Málkov (German Malkau ) is a municipality in Okres Chomutov , Czech Republic .
location
The place is at the foot of the Höllmüllerberg (460 m) and Hradiště ( Kleiner Purberg , 594 m) at the lower exit of the Höllental south of the Ore Mountains and west of Chomutov . At Málkov the Hutná (Saubach) flows into the Podkrušnohorský přivaděč . The sheltered location allows agriculture and cattle breeding as well as fruit growing. The previous mining operations were discontinued.
Community structure
The municipality of Málkov consists of the districts Lideň ( Glieden ), Málkov ( Malkau ), Vysoká ( Wisset ) and Zelená ( Grün ). Basic settlement units are Ahníkov ( Hagensdorf ), Kralupy u Chomutova ( German Kralupp ), Lideň, Málkov, Vysoká and Zelená. Málkov also includes the Račice ( Retschitz ) and Zásada ( Sosau ) desert areas .
The municipality is divided into the cadastral districts of Ahníkov, Kralupy u Chomutova, Lideň, Málkov u Chomutova, Vysoká u Chomutova and Zelená.
Personalities
A famous local resident was Josef Timotheus Fassl, director of the high school in Chomutov . He received honorary citizenship of the city of Komotau and was the librarian of the foundation library in Ossegg .
Anton Martius, called the "Old Martius". Researcher, who was born in Asch in 1791 as the son of a deacon , studied theology , medicine and natural sciences and settled in Malkau. As a mineralogist, geologist and archaeologist, he explored Russia , France , Italy , Denmark and Egypt . He was an eccentric, extremely frugal in bodily pleasures, insatiable in scientific research. He sold his rock collection to the Baron von Weidenheim at Wernsdorf Castle . Martius left unprinted manuscripts a. a. "About the signal points in Pürstein", "The stone mounds and Celtic graves in the Saaz district ", "The natives of Bohemia ", "About the history of the Carpathians ".
