The 1000 km race of Okayama 2009 , also known as the Asian Le Mans Series, Okayama Circuit , took place on November 1st at the Okayama International Circuit and was the first race in the history of the Asian Le Mans Series .

The race

The newly created Asian Le Mans Series was originally supposed to start with a race on the Shanghai International Circuit . However, the event was canceled at short notice, which meant the endurance race in Okayama marked the start of this championship. Since only two races were announced for the 2009 series , the entire championship consisted of a single race. The respective winners (overall and class classification) in Okayama were also the championship winners.

The 1000 km distance was covered in two 500-kilometer races. The first run ended with the success of Christophe Tinseau and Shinji Nakano , who drove a Pescarolo 01 for Henri Pescarolo's team . The second part of the rating was secured by Harold Primat and Stefan Mücke in the Lola Aston Martin DBR1 . However, the Aston Martin duo had lost two laps in the first part in third and had to be satisfied with this position in the overall standings. Nicolas Lapierre and Loïc Duval came in second overall in the Oreca 01 .

In addition to a second 01, the victorious Pescarolo team reported another car, a Peugeot 908 HDi FAP . However, the car was so badly damaged in the accident of Benoît Tréluyer at the 24 Hours of Le Mans that it could not be rebuilt.
