The title of a political talk show initiated and produced by Stefan Raab was the absolute majority . The program was broadcast on ProSieben from November 2012 to September 2013 . In advance, the concept of the show was discussed controversially in public and in the press.
concept
First of all, five talk guests (politicians, celebrities , lesser known people) discussed three topics with the aim of gathering the absolute majority of the audience behind them. The two discussion participants who did the worst after two rounds dropped out of the voting , but were still allowed to participate in the discussion. In the last lap there were three Talk guests in the race; the winner won 100,000 euros , provided he was able to collect an absolute majority behind him . If no candidate could achieve an absolute majority, the € 100,000 went into a jackpot. In the first three issues, ProSiebenSat.1 head of news Peter Limbourg analyzed the comments of the talk guests; world journalist Robin Alexander has taken on this task since the fourth show .
Raab's declared aim was to “get the young target groups interested in politics again with such formats”.

Special shipments
In contrast to the regular broadcast, the only special broadcast could not vote for the candidates present, but rather the winner of the TV duel that had run before. Since there were only two voting options, the candidate with more votes (Peer Steinbrück) automatically received an absolute majority.

Reviews
Even before the first episode was broadcast, the program met with massive criticism. ARD editor-in-chief Thomas Baumann described the program's concept of combining talk show and profit opportunities as “absurd”. The Frankfurter Rundschau stated: “The rabidization of German television continues” and announced that the restart of the program said “initially nothing good about the genre of political talk”. Bundestag President Norbert Lammert said that he considered the concept to be “absolute nonsense”. Raab then countered in the Süddeutsche Zeitung: "That the President of the Bundestag judges a program in this form that aims to get young people excited again for political discussion, and which he has not even seen, I find unheard of." ZDF -Editor-in-chief Peter Frey expressed himself positively: "Stefan Raab's idea is correct, whether it works will be shown."
