Aleix Vidal Parreu (born August 21, 1989 in Valls ) is a Spanish football player . He has been under contract with Sevilla FC since 2018 and is loaned to Deportivo Alavés for the 2019/20 season.

Career

Starts in smaller clubs

Vidal started his career in smaller clubs. Before that he played in the 2001/02 season in the second C-youth team (U14) of FC Barcelona . After going through youth, he joined Espanyol Barcelona second team for the 2008/09 season . There Vidal was not in the squad, but was loaned to Panthrakikos for the season in the Greek Super League . There he was used eight times in the highest Greek league.

For the 2009/10 season Vidal returned to Spain and moved to the Segunda División to Gimnàstic de Tarragona . In addition to two assignments at Gimnàstic, he was part of the Pobla de Mafumet farm team in the fourth-class Tercera Division .

For the 2010/11 season left Vidal the club again and joined the RCD Mallorca , where he in the second team in the third-tier Segunda División B played. There he came to 35 missions in which he scored six goals.

UD Almería

For the 2011/12 season Vidal moved to UD Almería , where he should initially be part of the B team. After a game in which Vidal scored two goals, he made his debut on August 27, 2011 in the senior team against FC Córdoba . He was then permanently included in the first team squad. In his first year he came to 41 appearances in the Segunda División, in which he scored five goals. He was always in the starting line-up. In his second year , Vidal was able to maintain his regular place and came up with 37 appearances (four goals). After the team finished third after the regular season, they were able to prevail in the promotion playoffs against UD Las Palmas and FC Girona and move up to the Primera División . Vidal was used in all four games and scored two goals. In the 2013/14 season Vidal played for the first time in the top Spanish division. He came to 38 appearances (six goals) and thus contributed to the relegation of the club.

Sevilla FC

For the 2014/15 season , Vidal moved to reigning Europa League winners FC Sevilla for around three million euros , with whom he signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2018. In his first outing, he and his team lost the UEFA Super Cup game against Real Madrid . In the league, Vidal made 31 appearances (four goals). There were also eleven appearances (two goals) in the Europa League, which Vidal and his team won after a 3-2 final victory over Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk , in which he was in the starting line-up.

FC Barcelona

For the 2015/16 season , Vidal is moving to reigning Spanish champions, cup and Champions League winners FC Barcelona , with whom he received a five-year contract until June 30, 2020. Due to a transfer ban imposed in the 2015 summer transfer period, Vidal - like his teammate Arda Turan - was only allowed to be registered and deployed at the start of the winter transfer period on January 4, 2016. He was therefore not part of the squad that won the Club World Cup in Japan in December 2015 . Vidal finally made his debut in the jersey of FC Barcelona on January 6, 2016, when he came on for Dani Alves in the 67th minute of a 4-1 home win in the first leg of the first leg of the Copa del Rey against Espanyol Barcelona . His league debut took place three days later at the 4: 0 home win against FC Granada .

Return to Sevilla FC

For the 2018/19 season , Vidal returned to Sevilla FC for a transfer fee of 8.5 million euros, which can be increased by two million euros through bonus payments . He signed a contract running until June 30, 2022.

National team

At the end of May 2015, Vidal was appointed to the Spanish A selection for the first time by national coach Vicente del Bosque . He made his debut on June 11, 2015 in a 2-1 friendly win over Costa Rica .

In addition, since 2013 Vidal has played in some unofficial friendlies of the Catalan selection, which is not recognized by FIFA and UEFA .
