Bátorove Kosihy (Slovak 1948–1991 Vojnice , 1927–1948 Bátorove Kesy , only Kesy until 1927 ; Hungarian Bátorkeszi , older also Bátorkesz ) is a municipality in Okres Komárno within Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia with 3335 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) .

The municipality is located in the Danube lowlands , more precisely in the Danube hill country on the Vojnický potok , which is a right tributary of the Danube . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 123 m nm , elevations worth mentioning are the Chrbát ( 271 m nm ) in the northwest and the Drieňová hora ( 226 m nm ). The place is located 26 kilometers east of Komárno and 26 kilometers west of Štúrovo .
Bátorove Kosihy is divided into two parts of the municipality: Vojnice and Mikulášov Sad.
history
The first documented settlement dates from the Neolithic Age. Avar, Slavic and Old Magyar tombs were also found in the municipality. The place was first mentioned in writing in 1156 as Villa Kesceu as an episcopal property. In 1311 the place was burned down by the supporters of the oligarch Matthäus Csák . Over the centuries it was owned by the Báthory families (who gave the municipality its name) and Pálffy families. In 1536 the place became a market town. In 1830 the first sugar factory in what is now Slovakia was established here.
Until 1918 the place was in Gran County within the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia . 1938-1945 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Bátorove Kosihy had 3,415 inhabitants, including 2,671 Magyars, 614 Slovaks, 39 Roma, 13 Czechs and one Bulgarian, one German, one Moravian and one Pole; 6 inhabitants were of a different ethnic group. 68 residents did not provide any information. 2,136 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church, 754 residents the Reformed Church, 47 residents the Evangelical Church AB, 23 residents the Jehovah's Witnesses, eight residents the Greek Catholic Church, seven residents the Evangelical Methodist and one resident of the Orthodox Church ; five residents were of a different denomination. 272 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 159 inhabitants has not been determined.
