Baikal ( Russian Байкал , also Port Baikal ) is a rural settlement (possjolok) in the Irkutsk Oblast ( Russia ) with 425 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

The place is on Lake Baikal, at the point where the Angara leaves the lake. Baikal is the end point of the Baikal Railway . Between 1948 and 2014, the place had the status of an urban-type settlement .
