Osterienburger Land is a unified municipality in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district (Saxony-Anhalt).

The municipality of Osternienburger Land covers the area between the four cities of Aken (Elbe) , Dessau-Roßlau , Köthen (Anhalt) and Bernburg (Saale) .
history
The unified community was created on January 1, 2010 through an agreement to change the area of the following communities, which previously belonged to the administrative community Osternienburg :

As of July 1, 2014, multiple existing street names were renamed and house numbers were adjusted. At the same time, the uniform postcode 06386 was assigned for the community of Osternienburger Land. Until then, the districts of Diebzig, Dornbock, Drosa, Großpaschleben, Kleinpaschleben, Trinum, Wulfen and Zabitz had the postal code 06369.

The Protestant parishes of Diebzig, Drosa (with Bobbe and Dornbock), Frenz, Kleinpaschleben (with Mölz), Trinum (with Thurau and Zabitz) and Wulfen (with Maxdorf) belong to the Drosa parish. The Protestant parishes of Elsnigk, Osternienburg (with Sibbesdorf and Würflau), Pißdorf, Reppichau and Trebbichau belong to the Easterienburg parish. The parish of Großpaschleben belongs to the Köthen St. Agnus parish . The Evangelicals in Dornbock belong to the parish of Gramsdorf , Bernburg Parish Church Martinskirche. The Protestants in Libbesdorf and Rosefeld belong to the rural community of St. Christophorus Quellendorf in the Dessau parish . All of the above parishes belong to the Evangelical Church of Anhalt .
The Protestant parishes of Chörau and Micheln belong to the parish association of Aken in the parish of Aken- Groß Rosenburg , in the parish of Egeln of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .
The Catholics in Chörau, Diebzig, Libbesdorf and Reppichau belong to the parish of St. Peter and Paul , based in Dessau ; their nearest branch churches are St. Joseph in Dessau-Alten and St. Konrad in Aken. The Catholics in Dornbock belong to the parish of St. Marien and St. Norbert with their seat in Schönebeck (Elbe) ; the next branch church is St. Norbert in Calbe (Saale) . The Catholics in Drosa, Elsnigk, Großpaschleben, Kleinpaschleben, Micheln, Osternienburg, Trinum, Wulfen and Zabitz belong to the parish of St. Maria , based in Koethen; the branch church Herz Jesu in Osternienburg belongs to this community . All of these parishes are assigned to the Dessau deanery of the Magdeburg diocese .

The coat of arms was approved by the district on June 28, 2013.
Blazon : “Split by silver and green; In front, over a black grooved red tin wall, a lowered red sword, which covers two crossed red and silver quivers, from which green peacock feathers with red and gold black peacock eyes protrude; behind a silver linden branch with fourteen leaves. "
The battlements refer to the etymological meaning of the name Osternienburg: oster = east, niew = new, burg = castle, as a self-contained, habitable defense structure. In the above In the sense pars pro toto, a battlement wall was chosen instead of the castle. In the coat of arms, as a shield base, it is limited to 14 stones including battlements - a number that, like the leaves of the linden branch, refers to the 14 places of the community.
The sword and quiver form the reference to the first Anhalt prince, Heinrich I. The Osternienburger Land was a direct part of the medieval Gaus Serimunt, which was a forerunner of the later Anhalt. Heinrich I resided in it as a prince - previously as a count , ie royal legal representative, whose first coins show him with the sword as a symbol of his judicial power. In the Codex Manesse , too , Heinrich I is depicted with the helmet ornament and feather frame that has been adopted into the municipal coat of arms as his main coat of arms.
The 14 districts of the municipality are, as already mentioned, represented on the heraldic left (optically right) half of the shield by 14 leaves of a linden branch - as are the 14 bricks of the battlements. Thus, every place is represented, whereby the linden tree is a reference to a tree species that occurs frequently in the district as well as the fact that it was a cultic tree for the Slavic ethnic groups who once urbanized the country.
The coat of arms was designed by the municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .
The colors of the church are green - white.

The Dessau – Köthen railway line ( Elsnigk station (Anh) and Osternienburg stop ), the Köthen – Aken railway line (no local rail transport ) and the Köthen – Aschersleben railway line ( Frenz stop ) run through the area of Osternienburger Land .
