In 1770 the company moved to its present location in Providence. The university is one of the most selective universities in the USA. In the 2010/11 admission round (start of studies in autumn 2011), 30,946 students applied, of which only 8.7% were accepted. 1157 applicants were top of the class in their high school, but only 29% of them were admitted to Brown University. 92% of all accepted applicants were in the top 10% of their high school senior year.
In the 2007/08 admissions round (the course began in autumn 2008), the university received almost 21,000 applications - almost 2000 more than in the previous year. The uptake rate was therefore even lower than in the previous year (approx. 13%). For applicants without American citizenship, the chance of admission was particularly low.
Brown University was voted the college with the happiest students in a college ranking by the Princeton Review . Brown University also made it into the top 10 dream colleges for both parents and students .
Other facilities
