The Bundestag constituency Rotenburg I - Heidekreis is one of 30 Bundestag constituencies in Lower Saxony and bears the number 35. It comprises the area of the Heidekreis district and the southern part of the Rotenburg (Wümme) district with the cities of Rotenburg (Wümme) , Scheeßel and Visselhövede as well as the combined communities of Bothel , Fintel and Sottrum .

history

The constituency was newly established for the 2009 Bundestag election . But even before that, parts of the districts of Soltau-Fallingbostel and Rotenburg (Wümme) were often combined in one constituency.

Between 1949 and 1976 the districts were still divided into the three constituencies Verden - Rotenburg - Osterholz (number 34), Harburg - Soltau (number 36) and Fallingbostel - Hoya (number 37).

In 1980 the constituency of Soltau - Rotenburg was created. It had constituency number 30. After the federal elections in 1980 and 1983, it was renamed Soltau-Fallingbostel - Rotenburg II , since the Bremervörde district was incorporated into the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in 1977 , but continued to be part of its old constituency, the now also renamed Stade - Rotenburg I with the number 25, should belong.

In the course of the reorganization of the constituencies before the federal election in 2002 , the constituency was dissolved and the constituency area was divided into the newly created constituencies Rotenburg - Verden (constituency 35) and Soltau-Fallingbostel - Winsen L. (constituency 36).

The old constituency with the new name Rotenburg I - Soltau-Fallingbostel was set up again for the 2009 Bundestag election . Due to the renaming of the district of Soltau-Fallingbostel to Heidekreis, the number and name of the constituency changed to 35 Rotenburg I - Heidekreis for the 2013 federal election, with unchanged delimitation .
