Campo Marzio (German Marsfeld , formerly it. Campo Marzo ) is the IV. Rione (district) of Rome . It covers the northern part of the Field of Mars from the Spanish Steps to Piazza del Popolo .


In ancient times, the area was outside the city limits and was built on with numerous public facilities. From the Middle Ages it became one of the most densely populated parts of the city.
