Regola is the VII Rione (district) of Rome . It covers the left bank of the Tiber between Ponte Garibaldi and Ponte Mazzini.

history

The name Regola is derived from the Latin Renula , which refers to the fine sand that covered this area on the banks of the Tiber. The medieval name was Regio Arenule et Chacabariorum . The term Arenule is also derived from Renula and can still be found in the district's largest street, Via Arenula. Chacabariorum is reminiscent of the coppersmiths who lived here alongside other craftsmen.
