Colonna (Italian for column ) is the III. Rione (district) of Rome .

It includes the southern part of the Field of Mars around the Piazza San Silvestro and the Palazzo Montecitorio . The name is derived from the Mark Aurelian column that stands on the Piazza Colonna in the district. The medieval name of the district was Regio Columne et Sancte Marie in Aquiro .

The coat of arms shows three oblique stripes on a white background. However, a coat of arms with a column on a red background is also used, which corresponds to that of the Colonna family , whose palace is also in the district.
