history
In the 1930s and 1940s the idea was born to build an upper class urban area on Casal Palocco. In 1958 a concept was worked out and construction began in 1961. Since care was taken to create enough lawns in the area, it is known as Quartiere verde (Green Quarter).
Casal Palocco was founded on September 13, 1961 by decision of the Commissario Straordinario. At that time the Ager Romanus was divided into 59 zones to which a Roman number was assigned and a Z was introduced. Six of them were completely outsourced to the newly founded municipality of Fiumicino and three others partially.
