Portuense (Suburbio)

Coordinates: 41 ° 50 '  N , 12 ° 26'  O Portuense is a Suburbio (suburb) of the Italian capital Rome . In the administration it isabbreviatedwith S. VII and belongs to Municipio XI . The name is derived from the Via Portuense . It is located in the north of the city of Rome, had 33,803 inhabitants in 2016 and an area of ​​7.4311 km². The area largely coincides with the zona urbanistica 20.e Grotta Rossa Ovest with 10.83 km² and 2612 inhabitants in 2015.

In the north it borders on the Suburbio S. VIII Gianicolense and the quarters Q. XII Gianicolense , in the east on the quarters Q. XI Portuense , in the south-east on the quarters Q. XXXII Europa and the zone Z. XXXIX Tor di Valle and in the west to zone Z. XL Magliana Vecchia

The Suburbio was officially founded on August 20, 1921 with the name S.VIII and took over on March 1, 1954, the number S.VII was taken over by Suburbia Ostiense , which became the quarter.
