Monte Sacro is a district in the northeast of the Italian capital Rome. It has an area of ​​4.1991 km² and 59,701 inhabitants in 2016. The quarter is called Q.XVI and is part of Municipio III . It forms the «zone urbanistiche» with the code 4.a , with 419.91 ha.

history

Monte Sacro was founded in 1924 with the name Città Giardino-Aniene as the garden city of Aniene. But after almost 30 years the character as a garden city was lost and the first buildings were replaced by new ones. In 1951 it was named after the Mons Sacer .
