As with classic catching, there are protection zones, with time-out there are a total of two. There the runners were able to get to safety for ten seconds each. Four rounds were played. Each team provided a runner three times and the catcher once.
  2. The endurance run was called Long Distance . On a 500-meter-long route with various obstacles, three runners start with a five-second lead over the catcher. Catching by hand or overtaking was a victory for the latter. Four rounds were played, with each team providing the catcher once and the runner three times.
  3. In the Blind Catch , runners and catchers were blindfolded onto the field. In order to catch the runner or to escape the catcher, the blind players had to be guided by their team colleagues by radio.
  4. At Cross the Line , the playing field was split in half. In between there were two catchers in a central zone. The runners - three on each half of the pitch at the beginning - had to cross the central zone as often as possible in 60 seconds in order to score. If they were caught or tapped, the game was over for them. Four rounds were played. Each team provided catchers twice and runners eight times.
  5. One against one at Vertical Catch was the competition on a 24 meter high climbing wall. It went up to the highest point and jumped on a rope. The runner was four seconds ahead. Getting caught up or falling was seen as losing. In four rounds, each team provided a runner and a catcher.
  6. In the obstacle race , two players competed against each other on a course with numerous obstacles. The runner had to survive for over 25 seconds without being caught. If he succeeded, the next catcher came. If the catcher was successful, he became a runner and a new catcher came along.

The final was called The Circle : The two best teams each provided one player per round, who started on opposite sides of a round course without obstacles. Whoever caught up with the other won the round. The team that won two rounds first won the game show.

Catch! The German Catching Championship (since 2019)

Edition 2019

At the beginning of February 2019 it was announced that the show would be available as a multi-successive tournament and under the title Catch! The German championship in catching is continued. The tournament consists of three qualifying rounds and a final. Each qualifying round consists of a four-way battle (four competitions) and a final. The four recordings took place from February 20 to 27, 2019 in the Cologne-Mülheim studio in Cologne .

The season started on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 at 8:15 p.m. The finale aired on Friday, April 12, 2019 at 8:15 p.m.

Competitions

The following competitions took place in the qualifying rounds and in the final:

  • In Around the Block three runners trying to escape the trap of another team within one minute of a team. However, there are four large blocks on the playing field as obstacles. Four rounds are played, with each team providing the catcher once and the runner three times. (Episode 1, 4)
  • In Open Field , the three players from three teams (9 players in total) must try to escape the catcher from the fourth team on the field. This tries to catch as many opponents as possible in one minute. Whoever is caught stays in the game. The catcher then has to catch another player. There are two players on the side of the catcher who can be substituted at any time with a tap. (Episode 2)
  • In the event of a time-out , three runners from one team must escape the catcher of another team for one and a half minutes. He, however, has to catch each of the runners. As with classic catching, there are protection zones, with time-out there are a total of two. There the runners can get to safety for ten seconds each. Four rounds are played. The team whose runners can escape the longest wins the competition. (Episode 3)
  • In the Under Construction endurance run , the players have to master a two-story course with various obstacles. A catcher from one team competes against a runner from another team, with the runner having to escape from him with a four-second lead over the catcher. There are five buzzers in the course that the runner can press to earn a bonus. (Episodes 1–3)
  • In the Office Run endurance run , players must run through a three-story office building. A catcher from one team competes against a runner from another team, with the runner having to escape the catcher with a four second lead. On the route, the players use an elevator. In this one must not be caught. If the runner manages to escape, he receives 15 points. If the catcher manages to catch his opponent on the route, he receives 10 points. (Episode 4)
  • In King Size , the players are put in inflatable airsuits. Four players, each one from a team, then have to catch each other as often as possible. The catcher changes every 10 seconds. Four rounds are played. (Episode 1)
  • In the Blind Catch , runners and catchers are blindfolded onto the field. In order to catch the runner or to escape the catcher, the blind players had to be guided by their fellow players via radio. (Episode 2, 4)
  • In Cross the Line , the six runners at the beginning must try to cross the marked center line as often as possible within 60 seconds. In this middle zone there are two catchers that the runners must catch or touch. Anyone caught is out immediately. On the other hand, whoever pressed the buzzer most often after four rounds wins the competition. Four rounds are played. So each team provides a total of two catchers and eight runners. (Episode 3)
  • In the Obstacle Race , two players compete against each other on a course with various obstacles. The teams have to escape between 20 and 26 seconds according to their previous placements (1st place: 20 seconds, 2nd place: 22 seconds, 3rd place: 24 seconds, 4th place: 26 seconds). Accordingly, the runner must survive this time without being caught. If he succeeds, he stays in the game and the opposing team has to provide a new catcher. If the catcher is successful, the runner is eliminated, the catcher becomes the new runner and the opposing team sends a new catcher onto the field. As soon as all players on a team are eliminated, the team has lost. The winners of the duel take part in the final (episode 1–3) or advance to the final (episode 4).

The two best teams take part in The Circle final . At the beginning, one player from each team starts on opposite sides of a round course without obstacles. Both are catcher and runner at the same time. A player can switch with a team member at any time, but each player can only run once. The team whose player can overtake and catch his opponent wins the final and moves into the final (episode 1–3) or wins the game show (episode 4).
