The Centro Olimpico de Mountain Bike ( German Olympic Mountain Bike Center ) was a mountain bike - racing track in the X-Park Deodoro in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro . During the 2016 Summer Olympics , the cycling competitions with mountain bikes took place here.
history
The architecture office Vigliecca & Associados was responsible for planning the mountain bike course , which involved the former mountain bike rider Nick Floros and the specialist Rogério Bernardes .
The mountain bike route was 4.9 km long and covered an area of 19,200 square meters. The highest point was at the 124 meter high Morro do Jaques. After the Olympic Games, the site was re-planned. Part of the route that is owned by the military was removed. The other section became the property of the city, which resulted in a smaller mountain bike route.
