The Estádio Aquático Olímpico was a temporary swimming pool in the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Park
history
Construction began in 2014 on the site of the former Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet . The inauguration took place on April 8, 2016 in the presence of President Dilma Rousseff .
During the 2016 Summer Olympics , swimming competitions and water polo games were held in the hall . Swimming competitions were also held here as part of the 2016 Summer Paralympics .
After completing the two games, it should be dismantled and reused. As of 2019, however, the swimming pool is still in place and is in ruins.
