history
During construction, which started in 2013, there were some problems. The construction work came to a standstill when the city of Rio de Janeiro terminated the construction contract 200 days before the start of the Games. The cost of construction was 201.7 million Brazilian reals .
The complex has a tennis stadium and 15 other tennis courts. The Center Court, which has been named after the former Brazilian tennis player Maria Bueno since 2015 , has a capacity of 10,000 spectators. Show Court 1 had a capacity of 5000 seats, Show Court 2 offered 3000 spectators during the games. The other places were designed for 250 spectators each.
After the Olympic Games, beach volleyball games were played in the Maria Bueno Stadium in February 2017.
