The Centro Nacional de Hipismo ( German  National Equestrian Center ) is an equestrian stadium in the Olympic Park Deodoro of Rio de Janeiro .

history

The Centro Nacional de Hipismo was built in 2007 for the Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro . With the award of the 2016 Summer Olympics to Rio de Janeiro, the stadium and its infrastructure were comprehensively renovated so that the show jumping and dressage competitions could take place in the stadium during the games. The area also included stables, residential buildings and an area for cross-country riding for eventing. Furthermore, training areas were set up and a veterinary clinic was built. During the competitions, in addition to the existing grandstand, the stadium was equipped with temporary grandstands, giving the stadium a capacity of 14,000 seats. The stadium also served as a competition venue during the 2016 Summer Paralympics .
