The Olympic Park Deodoro (also Deodoro Sports Complex or Região Deodoro ) has its origins in a nearby military academy in the western Deodoro district of Rio de Janeiro . The facility includes the national equestrian center, a polo field, the national shooting sports center, a sports hall, sports fields and a swimming pool. At the Pan American Games in 2007 and the Olympic Games in 2016 , the facility was used as a competition venue for various sports.

The Centro Olímpico de Hóquei ( Olympic Hockey Center ) was originally planned as a new hockey stadium with two seats in Barra da Tijuca , the main square with 10,000 seats, the side square with 5000 seats. The Brazilian Organizing Committee proposed in October 2012 that the stadium be relocated to Deodoro , where the hockey games of the 2007 Pan American Games had also taken place. That would be beneficial for the development of hockey in Brazil. Work began in Deodoro in July 2014 and the stadium was inaugurated in November 2015. The main stadium has 8,000 seats and will be reduced to 2,500 after the games.

The stadium will be used for football competitions at the 2016 Paralympics .

The Centro Nacional de Hipismo was built for the 2007 Pan-American Games and modernized and expanded for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. The area includes a stadium for show jumping and dressage competitions, stables, residential buildings and an area for cross-country riding for eventing. The riding stadium itself has a capacity of 14,000 spectators.

At the Paralympics 2016 it is also the venue for the equestrian competitions.

The Estádio do Deodoro ( Deodoros Stadium) is a makeshift sports stadium with a capacity of 20,000 spectators that was built around a polo field for the 2016 Olympic Games . It is the venue for 7-a-side rugby and for the riding, running and shooting competitions of modern pentathlon.

At the Paralympics 2016 , the 7-a-side football will be played in the stadium.

The Centro Nacional de Tiro was built for the 2007 Pan-American Games and had to be modernized and expanded for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro . It is the arena for shooting sports at both the Olympic Games and the 2016 Paralympics .

The Arena da Juventude ( Arena of Youth , also Arena de Deodoro ) is a new multi-purpose sports hall with a capacity of 5,000 spectators, which was built for the 2016 Olympic Games . It is the venue for preliminary round games in women's basketball and for fencing competitions in modern pentathlon.

At the Paralympics 2016 , wheelchair fencing will be held in the arena.

Centro Aquático do Pentatlo Moderno

The Centro Aquático do Pentatlo Moderno ( Water Sports Center of Modern Pentathlon ) is a swimming pool that has been given a temporary grandstand for the duration of the 2016 Olympic Games . The swimming competitions for the modern pentathlon take place in the pool.
