The Jeunesse Arena is a multi-purpose hall and is located in the Barra da Tijuca district in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil . With the Parque Aquático Maria Lenk and the Velódromo da Barra , it forms the Complexo Esportivo de Autódromo in the Autódromo Internacional Nelson Piquet race track .
It was built on the occasion of the 15th Pan American Games in 2007 (July 13-29) and basketball and gymnastics took place there. The Judo World Championships were held from September 13 to 16, 2007 .
The 2016 Summer Olympics were held in the arena artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics and trampolining at the Summer Paralympics in 2016 , the wheelchair basketball -Competitions instead.
In addition to sporting events, the hall is also used for concerts. Guests were here z. B. Andrea Bocelli , Alanis Morissette , Bob Dylan , Korn , Lily Allen , Ozzy Osbourne , Roberto Carlos , Rod Stewart , Scorpions , Seal , The Offspring , Queen + Paul Rodgers
From March 29, 2008 until the beginning of the Olympic Games, the event hall was named HSBC Arena , after the world's largest banking group HSBC . Since 2016 the sports facility has been called Jeunesse Arena after the company Jeunesse Global .
