Chloë Grace Moretz
Chloë Grace Moretz (born February 10, 1997 in Atlanta , Georgia ) is an American actress and model , best known for the films Kick-Ass and Let Me In .
life and career
Chloë Grace Moretz was born to a cosmetic surgeon and nurse and grew up with four older brothers in Cartersville , Georgia . When her brother Trevor was accepted into an acting school in New York City in 2001, she followed him there with her mother. Her brother's acting classes quickly piqued her interest, so she helped him practice lines and he taught her some acting techniques. When Moretz saw how much they liked this, the family decided to go to some auditions to see if they could apply their skills professionally. Moretz was hired as a model at a children's agency in New York and this was followed by several advertising appearances on television.
In 2003 the family moved to California, where the father had temporarily settled in Los Angeles. In 2004 Moretz had her first small role in the television series The Guardian - Savior with a Heart . There she played the girl "Violet" in two episodes and in 2005 she had her first film role as "Molly" in Heart of the Beholder . Her next big role was as "Chelsea Lutz" in Amityville Horror - A True Story . She also starred in an episode of the sitcom My Name Is Earl . In an episode of Kuzco's premier class , Moretz spoke the character "Furi". In 2006 she starred in the film Zombies in the role of "Emma Tunny". In the series My Friends Tigger and Pooh , she gave the character "Darby" her voice. For this role, Moretz received one of six nominations for the Young Artist Award so far .
In 2009 Moretz took on the role of "Mindy Macready" alias "Hit-Girl" in the superhero satire Kick-Ass at the side of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicolas Cage . The film, which was released in 2010, received mostly positive reviews, in which Moretz's acting performance was praised in particular. The Rolling Stone critic Peter Travers said that Moretz dominated the film and that her sensational performance would be talked about for years to come. Other critics complained that the film fetishized the eleven-year-old killer and declared “Hit-Girl” an honorable heroine despite her bloody acts of violence. In October 2010 Moretz received the Scream Award 2010 in the Breakout Performance - Female category for her role in Kick-Ass .
On December 13, 2010, Moretz was twice nominated for a Critics' Choice Movie Award in the Best Young Actor category for her performance in Kick-Ass and Let Me In . In 2011 she was seen in one of the leading roles in Martin Scorsese's 3D film Hugo Cabret , for which she won the award for Best Actress in a Feature Film at the Young Artist Awards 2012 . In 2011, Moretz also starred as Carolyn Stoddard in Tim Burton's remake of Dark Shadows .
In March 2012 she was cast for the role of "Carrie" in the remake of the film of the same name . In 2012 she shot Kick-Ass 2 , in which she was seen again as "Hit-Girl". She starred opposite Keira Knightley in the comedy drama Laggies , which premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival . In the same year she starred in the film The Equalizer alongside Denzel Washington . She also appeared in the 2014 New York Public Theater, directed by Steven Soderbergh, in The Library , an adaptation of Dave Cullen's book Columbine about the Littleton School Massacre .
