Copa México 1947/48

The Copa MX 1947/48 was the sixth edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico . Cup winners were the team of CD Veracruz for the first time , which celebrated their second cup success only 68 years later (2016).

The cup tournament was held after the league round of the 1947/48 season. The 15 teams that were represented in the top division in the same season were eligible to participate, which meant that one team advanced to the round of 16 by bye.

Veracruz

The final was held on July 25, 1948 at the Estadio Olímpico Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City . Despite an earlier opening goal from Max Prieto (14th minute), Chivas Guadalajara lost to Tiburones Rojos Veracruz , for whom Raymundo “Pelón” González scored twice.
