Copa México 1957/58

The Copa MX 1957/58 was the 16th edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico . The tournament was played following the league round of the first division season 1957/58 . Only the 14 teams that were represented in the country's top division in the same season were eligible to participate . The winner was the team of Club León , which won the cup competition this season for the second time since 1949 and at the same time was able to retaliate for the final defeat of last season against the same opponent ( CD Zacatepec ).

mode

The encounters were played in the knockout system . Due to the participation of 14 teams, two teams ( Club América and Atlético Morelia ) advanced by bye in the first round . All rounds except for the final, for which originally only one match was scheduled, were played in home and return games with one home right for the two opponents. The final venue was the Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City , where the required replay was played after the first match ended in a 1-1 draw. After no winner could be determined in the regular playing time of the rescheduled final encounter, the decision was only made in extra time , but ultimately clearly 5: 2 for the winner from the industrial city of León .
