The Copa MX 1948/49 was the seventh edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico .

The cup tournament was held following the league round of the 1948/49 season. The 15 teams that were represented in the top division in the same season were eligible to participate .

Cup winners for the first time was León FC , which had also won the championship of the same season. Thus, León FC was also the first club to win the title of the Campeón de Campeones competition, introduced in 1942 , the Supercup between champions and cup winners , without a fight.

The final between two major rivals in Mexican football was played on August 14, 1949 at the Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in Mexico City .
