Copa México 1987/88

The Copa MX 1987/88 was the 34th edition of the football - cup competition since the introduction of professional football in Mexico and the first Cup tournament after more than ten years after the competition after the last discharge in the 1975/76 season had been set initially.

The cup tournament was held in the first half of 1988. Of the 20 teams that played first-class that season, only 16 took part in the cup tournament. Not match the were Tampico Madero FC , Atlético Potosino , CD Irapuato and Tigres UANL .

Cup winners for the third time after 1945 and 1953 of Puebla FC .

mode

The matches were played in the knockout system, with each round (including the final) playing back and forth with one home right for both opponents. A special feature was that the Mexico City- based CD Cruz Azul (final opponent of Puebla FC) played all home games at the Estadio La Corregidora in Santiago de Querétaro .

The matches of the round of 16 took place between January 29 and February 14, 1988.
