Daniel Meyer (born September 10, 1979 in Halle ) is a German football coach and lawyer .
Coaching career
Meyer, who successfully passed the 1st and 2nd state exams in law , began his coaching career in 2002 at the lower-class FC Strausberg in Brandenburg , of which he has been a member since then.
After completing his studies, he worked for Energie Cottbus as a youth trainer and consultant between 2011 and 2015 . As a result, he first acquired the A-trainer license and then, in 2015, the football teacher license at the Hennes-Weisweiler Academy in Cologne .
After brief assignments as a youth coach at 1. FC Köln , Meyer signed a contract valid until 2020 as head coach at the second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue as the successor to Hannes Drews for the 2018/19 season . He finished the season with the team in 14th place. On the 2nd match day of the 2019/20 season , Meyer was represented by his brother and assistant coach André due to a death in the family . After Meyer returned to the bank on the 3rd match day, he and his brother were "initially" on leave on August 19, 2019. At this point, the team had scored 6 points and had been victorious in the first main round of the DFB Cup . The association did not provide any information about the reasons. On August 26th, Dirk Schuster was signed as the new head coach.
For the 2020/21 season , Meyer will be the new coach of the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig . There he inherits Marco Antwerp , whose contract was not extended despite promotion to the 2nd division.
Functionary career
Meyer also acted temporarily as a scout for Energie Cottbus and for two years as head of the Cologne youth training center .
