Eljif Elmas [ ɛlif ɛlmas ] ( Macedonian Ељиф Елмас , also known under the spelling Elif Elmas * 24. September 1999 in Skopje ) is a Macedonian footballer of Turkish descent, while Napoli has a contract.

Career

Eljif Elmas began his professional football career at the age of 16 in the 2015/16 season with the first division club Rabotnički Skopje and he played twelve competitive games this season, consisting of league, cup and championship playoff games, and scored one goal.

In the following season ( 2016/17 ), the 16-year-old North Macedonian made his game and goal debut in the European Cup in the first leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League and scored the goal to make it 1-1 against the Montenegrin first division club FK Budućnost Podgorica . In the highest North Macedonian professional football championship , the underage Elmas became a regular in the team on 36 league match days, he played 33 games, including 31 from the start, but the North Macedonian played a total of 35 competitive games, scored seven goals and created seven goals before .

In the summer transfer period of 2017, the Turkish first division and traditional club Fenerbahçe Istanbul signed him . In September 2018, at the age of 18 and 357 days, Elmas made his goal debut for Fenerbahçe in the league game against Konyaspor by shooting the 1-0 victory as a joker and thus becoming the match winner. He is also the youngest Fenerbahçe goalscorer since the 2007/08 season.

In April 2019 Elmas celebrated his intercontinental derby game debut and his derby goal premiere in the league match against Galatasaray Istanbul , when the 19-year-old North Macedonian scored the important 1-1 equalizer and final score, which his team was already outnumbered after a red card . So he ensured the winless series of Galatasaray Istanbul at Ülker Stadyumu in Kadıköy for 19 years, more precisely December 22, 1999, continues. Elmas completed 47 competitive games in two seasons for the yellow-dark blue and scored four goals.

In July 2019, the North Macedonian moved to the Italian first division club SSC Napoli at the age of 19 for a transfer fee of at least 16 million euros .

National team

Eljif Elmas started his national team career with the Macedonia U17 juniors in October 2015 .

On June 11, 2017 Elmas made his debut at the age of 17 in the highest Macedonian national team (since February 2019 North Macedonia ) in the qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup against Spain .

Furthermore, in June 2017 the 17-year-old North Macedonian was called up for the final U21 squad for Macedonia for the U21 European Championship 2017 in Poland, where he was one of the youngest players in the squad. In the tournament Elmas played all possible three games for his team, in addition he was one of the youngest football players used in the tournament.

Elmas played in the 2018/19 UEFA Nations League with his under 20 years of age all but one, where he had to serve a yellow-red suspension .

On March 21, 2019, the 19-year-old North Macedonian celebrated his first goals in the North Macedonian A-selection in the qualifier for the 2020 European Championship against Latvia by taking the 2-0 lead and 3-1 final as a joker .
