The 1980/81 European Cup was the 20th edition of the competition, in which 21 handball club teams from 20 countries took part. They qualified for the European Cup in their home countries in the previous season . In the final, Spartak Kiev prevailed against defending champion RK Radnički Belgrade and won the cup for the eighth time.
