The Gauliga middle 1938/39 was the sixth season of the Gauliga middle as the top division of the Gau middle (Gau VI). The championship was secured again by SV Dessau 05 , this year with a full seven points advantage and without a defeat, ahead of 1. SV 03 Jena . The Dessau team qualified again for the final round of the German championship , but were eliminated there after the group stage. The relegation ranks were occupied by SpVgg 02 Erfurt and promoted FV Fortuna Magdeburg . The SV 08 Steinach and 1. FC 07 Lauscha had to dismount on the orders of Gau-Fachwarts also in the district class. The reason for this: " A war-related consideration of economic aspects ". Translated: Steinach and Lauscha were geographically " unfavorable ". The league was played with only 8 participants for the coming season. Newcomers: 1. SV Gera and SF Halle .
